When I was kid, I used to looove going to Red Lobster for their cheddar biscuits. I would, without fail, eat a whole basket by myself every time. Back then, I could eat as many as I wanted and wouldn’t have to worry about it. A few games of volleyball would have worked those biscuits right off. Ahh, those were the days. Sigh.

The moral of the story is this: don´t buy boring dinner rolls. Make these fantastic hunks of bread, pair them with steak and wine, and you´re all set for a wonderful dinner! This recipe will make around eight biscuits. Let me know what you think!

Cheddar and Herb Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoon freshly chopped chives
  • 1 tablespoon freshly chopped parsley leaves
  • 3/4 cup grated sharp yellow cheddar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cayenne together using a whisk.
  4. Add the herbs, cheese and buttermilk. Stir together until dough forms.
  5. Once dough has formed, using an ice cream scooper, scoop out dough onto baking tray.
  6. With a brush, lightly butter tops. Bake for 15 minutes.
